Noel Freidline Group-  a pianist, vocalist, writer, arranger, and dilettante of pop culture, who has been named Best Jazz Musician by Charlotte Magazine and Best Musical Director by the Metrolina Theatre Association of the Carolinas.  

Noel has been the leader of his own group since 1991, when he graduated from University of North Florida with a BA in Music (magna cum laude).  In addition to his work with his own quintet,  Noel performs regularly with the Charlotte Symphony, both as a featured artist and ensemble member.  Noel also performs regularly with touring Broadway shows, most recently “Jersey Boys,” “Bring It On,” “Dream Girls,” “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” “White Christmas,” “Les Miserable,” and “Wicked.”  With the NFQ Noel has opened for such diverse artists as Tony Bennett, saxophonist David Sanborn, Kenny G, Rosemary Clooney, pianist Dave Brubeck, vocalist Layla Hathaway, jazz legend Roy Ayers, and vocalist Jennifer Holliday.

As a composer and arranger, Noel has written and recorded music for ESPN, ABC and the Walt Disney Company, with his most recent work being featured on Monday Night Football, the NBA All-Star Game, and SportCenter. Noel has been a Lecturer in Music at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, teaching such diverse subjects as music business, the history of rock music, jazz arranging, music theory and ear training, and directing the UNCC jazz combo’s as well as the vocal jazz ensemble.

About the High Country Jazz Society performance series:

  • The concerts will take place from 5-7 pm at the Appalachian Theatre in Boone with the exception of the June concert at Chetola from 5 – 6:30 (one 90 minute set)

  • By 5PM ON MONDAY ONE WEEK BEFORE THE CONCERT, call the Appalachian Theatre 828.865.6860 or email tickets@apptheatre.org with a reservation name, total number in your party and phone number.

  • If you plan to attend the June concert, please send your seat reservation request with your membership form to highcountryjazzsociety@yahoo.com . Seats will likely be sold out closer to the concert.

  • Open seating only. No tables guaranteed, only number of seats.

  • Drinks and concessions will be available for purchase at the venues.

  • A monthly concert reminder will be emailed.

We DO NOT accept tickets sold on a secondary market. We reserve the right to decline entry if you are not the original ticket buyer.

Tickets purchased from alternative sources may be any or all of the following:

·          Over-priced

·          Invalid (cannot be used to enter the event)

The Appalachian Theatre of the High Country (ATHC) is not responsible for tickets purchased from third party vendors and is not able to honor, replace, or refund invalid tickets. Please purchase your tickets from only approved sources.

PARKING INFORMATION

Please be sure to carefully read the information and instructions below to have the best experience when you visit the theatre.

Metered street parking & pay lots are monitored and parking is enforced Monday – Saturday from 8 a.m. until 5 pm except on town observed holidays.

Parking is $1.00/hour at all metered parking spaces. 
Metered & lot parking is free all day on Sundays and every day after 5 p.m.
 
Parking in Appalachian State parking lots (e.g. the Peacock Lot accessed off Howard Street) is available for free on week nights after 5 p.m. and on non-gameday/event weekends on Saturday and Sunday.
 
Accessible Parking:
Parking at metered accessible parking areas is free, as long as the correct placard/license plate is displayed and up to date.

ATHC does not own or operate any parking lots or meters and cannot accept responsibility for any parking mishaps or fees.
