Venue Accessibility

At the Appalachian Theatre, we strive to provide services that help everyone have an enjoyable experience. We’re happy to answer your questions or explain any of our policies.

For access questions or to make accessibility requests, contact our Patron Services Manager.

  • Accessible parking spaces are located outside the theatre and close by in the town’s King Street Lot.

Parking in any Town of Boone metered parking area or space is free, as long as a valid handicapped placard/license plate is displayed.

  • Wheelchair and scooter accessible and companion seating is available on the orchestra level of the theatre. Our main lobby provides access to accessible water fountains, ticket counters and restroom stalls.

An elevator provides access to our community room located on the second floor.

Please note, there is no elevator access to the balcony seating level of the theatre. Guests requiring wheelchair or semi-ambulatory seating, or those unable to utilize 2 stairs, steep ramps or steps up and down within the seating area, should purchase tickets in the orchestra level of the theatre.

Accessible seating may be purchased in-person or by calling the ATHC Box Office at 828.865.3000.

  • Trained service animals are permitted on site and management should be notified if they are expected. Handlers/owners must confirm the following:

    1. The animal is a Service Animal required for a disability.

    2. The work or task the animal has been trained to perform related to the individual’s disability.

Service animals must remain under the control of the handler/owner at all times and may not be left unaccompanied. Emotional support animals or pets not deemed service animals by the Americans for Disabilities Act are not permitted within the venue.

Service animals in training: Contact our Patron Services Manager (828.865.3000) at least 24 hours prior to the event to confirm that we’re able to facilitate animals in training for a particular event.

  • Our new Sennheiser Mobile Connect assistive listening system amplifies and clarifies sound by cutting down on ambient noise. The Appalachian Theatre provides a QR code in the lobby to link your mobile device to our assistive-listening system. More information is available through the lobby box office.

  • Requests for sighted guide services, film subtitles or American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation may be made through our Patron Services Manager. Please call 828.865.3000 or email at least two weeks prior to your event so we can make every reasonable accommodation to provide the support services requested.
